Eco-Friendly cleaners come in all types. You can get them at your local market. You can even get them at Wal-Mart and Target. Better yet, you can make your own cleaners at home! This not only saves money, but really does have an impact on what you are washing down your drain and into our finite water supply.
Here are three of my super-simple favorite cleaners that I make at home, just to get you started. There are so many great recipes out there! If you have a cleaner you are particularly fond of, let me know. I love trying new things!
1 1/2 cups Vinegar
1 1/2 cups Dawn dishwashing liquid
Heat vinegar for 2 minutes in the microwave. Add the Dawn and stir well. I put my mixture in an all-purpose spray bottle.
I spray this on all of my bathroom surfaces, let it sit for a few minutes, and then scrub and rinse. They are squeaky clean when I'm done!
Fels-Naptha Powder Detergent
1 cup Borax
1/2 cup Super Washing Soda
1/2 cup Oxi Clean
1 bar Fels-Naptha
Put Fels-Naptha into food processor and pulse until ground. Add Borax, Super Washing Soda, and Oxi Clean and mix well.
Use 1-2 Tablespoons per load.
1 cup Borax
1 cup Super Washing Soda
1/2 cup citric acid
1/2 cup Kosher salt
Add all ingredients to a bowl or jar and mix well (I just add mine straight to a jar and shake it up really good with the lid on).
Add 1 tablespoons dishwasher per load.
